Licensed Speech-Language Pathologist, and Certified PROMPT© instructor Gail Scher, specializes in the assessment and treatment of speech and language delays/disorders. She is one of 50 PROMPT© Instructors worldwide. PROMPT© stands for Prompts for Restructuring Oral Muscular Phonetic Targets. It is a tactile-kinesthetic approach to speech therapy. It is a multidimensional approach that embraces physical –sensory aspects of motor performance, cognitive linguistic and social emotional aspects. PROMPT© is about integrating all domains and systems towards positive communication outcome. 


Dr. Scher helps individuals ranging in age from one to twenty five with articulation and speech intelligibility challenges, increase receptive and expressive language skills, and social language/pragmatic development.  She also provides outreach services to multidisciplinary and ABA teams as well as school boards. She received Clinician of the Year from North Suburban Special Education District in Illinois in 2006 and is a recipient of the ASHA ACE award for continuing education for  2015, 2016 and 2017.

Dr. Scher has been a PROMPT© instructor since 2005 and has taught both introductory and advanced courses to speech language pathologists nationally and internationally. Dr. Scher received her undergraduate education in Canada and her Masters and Ph.D. in the United States. She is licensed in Illinois IL Lic.# 146001602 and in Ontario reg. CASLPO #6863. She is an active member of ASHA and OSLA. 


Dr. Scher understands how communication challenges can affect a child’s academic success, social relationships and overall self image. Her greatest sense of accomplishment is helping nonverbal or unintelligible children and young adults become confident, successful verbal communicators
